Clean floors are hard.
Somebody at some point came up with a broom. Until then, people probably wanted to keep their floors clean and would have to sort of scoot around on the ground, picking things up. (Imagine having to interact individually with every fingernail and Froot Loop that ended up down there, quietly judging yourself and cursing your filthy housemates.)
So that means that whoever came up with sweeping was suddenly winning the technological arms race when it comes to cleaning the floor. They probably had the cleanest place around for a while. You could drop in unannounced in the middle of a Tuesday and there’s a good chance that the floors would be swept and tidy. Now compare that to a pre-broom house, where you knock on the door and then stand there awkwardly while you hear the people inside scramble around, kicking fingernail cereal wads under the couch and desperately licking up dust bunnies.
Yeah, it turns out that having the right tool for the job is like 90 percent of cleaning.
Today’s deal is that. Having a quick and nimble cordless stick vacuum can make all the difference between tidying up a little mess right away and having to lug out that big canister monstrosity that’s literally the loudest thing you own. It’s the difference between doing a quick little sweep-up after lunch and, well…not.
It wasn’t reasonable to have a floor without Froot Loops until the broom came along. And it really isn’t reasonable to keep up with the vacuuming today if you don’t have the cordless convenience of a stick vacuum.
The only exception is if you outsource the entire task to a giant robot hockey puck. Fortunately, we have a bonus deal for that.
