Robotic expectations?
When the first robot vacuums came out in the early 2000s, it was forgivable that they were really expensive—hundreds of dollars and many are still that pricey.
But that’s because it was pretty much the very first consumer-grade chore robot of all time and people were willing to pay a premium to be early adopters in what would surely be an endless parade of turn-of-the-millennium life-changing helper machines.
Too bad that 20+ years later, we seem to still be stuck on robot vacuums without any meaningful progress on things that will clean out your closet or wipe down the kitchen counters. Disappointing.
Oh well. At least it’s driven the cost down when it comes to these things, meaning that you can now spend eighty bucks to get something that’ll not only vacuum your floor but mop it, too.
This does that. It can be controlled with the remote or with the app. There’s even voice control if you’re feeling extra bossy.
Embrace the promise of 2002. It’s about time it arrived for less than $499.
