Using her intensive training, Jane managed to maneuver the Gemini-5000 mere feet out of blast range just as the main craft exploded.
“Well, he was right,” Horner said. “The pyrotechnics display was exquisite.”
“Collins!” Jane said into her headset. “I have the three twins on board and we’re making our way back home.”
“Great work, Jane!” Collins said. “No need to explain why there were multiple twins or why we’re one crew member short or what happened up there at all. Those things aren’t of narrative concern right now.”
“Agreed,” Jane said.
She shifted into hyperdrive and soon they were cruising through space towards home at extremely high speeds.
The journey passed for some time in silence, all on board exhausted by the events of the morning. Laney watched space rush by but Horner and Paul fell asleep in their seats.
