Give it a shot?
This is not an Apple Watch. And one of the best things about it is that unlike a lot of entry-level smartwatches these days, it isn’t trying to be.
No “Cupertino-inspired” rectangular form factor. No suspiciously familiar screen layout. Just an honest-to-goodness actual smartwatch that’s meant to stand on its own two feet. (Or hands. Wait, it doesn’t exactly have hands, either. You get the idea.)
With this one, you’ll have all of the critical smartwatch basics, like phone notifications and fitness features, which are really the only things people actually use regularly on smartwatches after they get past the novelty of it all. You also don’t get any of the potentially problematic nonsense, like calling an emergency helicopter to your location because you banged your wrist on the dishwasher. And you of course avoid the hefty typical smartwatch price tag, potentially the least desirable “feature” of them all.
In any case, this watch has a vaguely rugged, fitness-centric look about it, while still coming off as stylish enough to look okay in more professional settings (but only because 9 out of 10 people in professional settings are now wearing little screens on their wrists).
So yeah. Apple now has a “cheap version” of their watch that you can get for 10 times as much as this one. And while they might think that $250 makes for a good “see what you think” price point, we’d like you to give it a whirl for more like $25.
So go ahead and get in the game for way less than elsewhere. You might dig it. (A lot.)
