Korok and Roll by Alunduart

Broken Link

“So,” said the interviewer, “are you familiar with that game?”

“That game?” said the copywriter. “The one you just mentioned?”

“Yes,” said the interviewer. “The one I just named. We’ve got a couple designs based on it coming up, and so we want to make sure you’re knowledgeable enough to write the copy.”

“Oh, well, fear not,” said the copywriter, glancing down. “It’s one of my top five favorite games with gameplay that incorporates action-adventure and elements of action RPGs.”

“Huh,” said the interviewer.

“Yeah, and it’s not just the games,” the copywriter went on without looking up. “I also enjoy the individual manga adaptations that have been produced in Japan since 1997.”

“Interesting,” said the interviewer.

“February 21, 1986,” said the copywriter. “I consider it one of the best days of my life, given that it’s when the initial game was first released for the Famicom Disk System.”

“Wait, when were you born?” the interviewer asked.

“May,” said the copywriter.

The interviewer leaned forward. “Of what year?”

“1986,” said the copywriter.

“So you don’t actually know anything about the game,” the interviewer said. “You’re just reading details off the Wikipedia page under the table, aren’t you?”

“Maybe,” said the copywriter.

“Well, it’s no bother,” said the interviewer, sitting back. “We’ll hire you anyway. After all, how many designs could we possibly run based on one game franchise?”

Features

Alberto, aka Alundrart, is a lover of video games, pop culture, and music who has been working as a graphic designer for 10 years. For the nerds out there, that means roughly since the release of A Link Between Worlds. (Not that Alberto’s decision to become a designer had anything to do with that specific game.)

Inks

  • Waterbased inks are more like a dye that absorbs into the fabric when printed
  • They have a much softer feel and a more retro or worn look
  • The colors are softer and less saturated than plastisol ink
  • Plastisol inks are made with plastic and sit on the surface of the fabric rather than absorbing as the waterbased inks do
  • Plastisol is very durable and can be felt on the fabric
  • The colors in a design printed with plastisol are brighter and more vibrant than those printed with waterbased inks
  • We decide if a shirt is going to be printed in waterbased ink or plastisol based on the art and the color of the shirt that’s going to be used
