Not a boomerang
After careful consideration and a couple of rounds of offering this for sale here, we’ve come to a conclusion: this neckband speaker should, indeed, exist.
This wasn’t a no-brainer realization. We were very open to this being a stupid product that found its way to us because nobody in their right mind would every buy one in anything resembling a normal retail environment.
And yet.
The more we thought about it, the more sense it made. Sometimes you want to be buzzing around doing chores. But maybe you don’t want to be blasting music through the house and also don’t want to stick earbuds in and block out the surrounding world entirely.
With this neckband speaker thing, you can keep your ears open and have your music (or audiobook or podcast) follow you around. Wherever you go, your audio will be there, and if someone wants to talk to you, well…they can.
You’re still a bad person if you wear this on a crowded bus or something, but we’ve at least come around to the idea that maybe this isn’t such a silly product after all. Lucky for you, though, enough people think it’s silly that you can get one for fifteen bucks instead of the $60 or more we’re seeing for similar ones elsewhere.
Which brings us to another point: real companies make these things. Sony has one! It’s $299 at Best Buy.
Definitely don’t buy that one. Maybe do buy this one, though.
