That would be my question as well. With three AAA batteries as an optional power source, it’s definitely not going to be over 500, and more likely down around 200-300. That’s still useful, if they have that much.
Growing up, we always had at least a flashlight or two in drawers here and there. My dad had a handful of pen-lights he’d collected from conferences over the years (pre-usb stick proliferation) and those were especially easy to store in a pen tray anywhere, and were usually bright enough for simple purposes like looking under bed or couch for something.
Now, we are totally of the phone-flashlight age, and while it’s spartan, I’ve started to not love relying on my phone for everything. A) I could stand to keep the phone and it’s serotonin-drip out of my hands; to scroll and browse less, pay attention to the present moment more I misplace the damn thing almost daily around the house, so it can take a while to find in the moment
All that to say, I’m in for 4 lights

Ordered these flashlights twice now and was wondering what the plastic tubes were inside the flashlight box? Too keep it stable in the box? To add to the plastic in the oceans? Whaaaattt? Whyyyy?
@KSchweitz they are spacers if you use 18650 li-ion batteries instead of the 3 AAAs.
On that note, anyone have a recommendation for good 18650’s? There are a lot of options including high drain, low drain, higher/lower mAh, flat top, button top…
I just want a good battery i can rely on, will last, will give good light, and won’t drain too much when sitting in a drawer for a bit. Anyone have a good recommendation for these flashlights. Better yet, any good tutorial on how to decide based on usage?

For five bucks, you get a five-buck flashlight. These days, that’s a pretty good unit!
300 lumens? 1000 lumens? Any lumens?

@KSchweitz @ybmuG Nitecore protected with USB port built in. No special charger needed, no worries about overdischarging. Honest capacity labelling.
@KSchweitz @werehatrack thanks for the suggestion. I know I’ve seen them. Any difference between high and low discharge for flashlights?
@KSchweitz @ybmuG Nope. The high-rate ones are needed for things like power tools, but have no advantage in a flashlight…
