The new normal?
Right now, a lot of us are at just about the one-year anniversary of when our jobs told us we’d be working remotely for a couple of weeks. Spoiler: It wasn’t a couple of weeks.
Well with a pretty crazy year under our belts, some of are still living that Zoom life and some of us have started getting back to something like normal. Either way, one big lesson learned through all this is just how much we can get done from home.
Of course, for every big lesson, there are usually a bunch of little lessons, too.
One of the little lessons is that if you’re going to be doing even a small amount of work from home, it’s good to invest in the right setup. If you take your video conferences with the camera turned off so you can join meetings from bed (or worse…), it’s only a matter of time before an accidental screen tap or button press will reveal to the entire all-hands meeting that yes, you eat cereal in bed, and no, you don’t put on pants to do it.
Potential video gaffes aside, there’s just a lot to be gained by having a proper, professional setup. Be at a desk. Sit in an actual chair. Look way better thanks to having a proper webcam that doesn’t make you resemble that runny nose scene in The Blair Witch Project.
