Just right
Here’s the thing about these smart bulbs. They’re smart, but they’re not…that smart.
And really, unless you’re trying to do something very fancy and specific, you don’t need (or want) your bulbs to be all that smart. You want them to be exactly smart enough to do the job and, ideally, no smarter.
Case in point? Smart hubs. Smart hubs are a pain and can lead to all manner of technological headaches. The last thing you want is for your bathroom light to quit working because there was a firmware update to your microwave and for some reason, those two things are interacting with one another behind the scenes. Well, these bulbs don’t need a hub at all. You screw them in, connect ‘em to Wi-Fi, and do all of your digital tinkering right from the app. It’s brilliant.
Plus once you have them set up, it becomes super easy to play around with the settings, which mostly consist of letting you change colors, adjust brightness, and do some cool scheduling things. So nothing crazy, but they certainly cover most ordinary use cases for like 99 percent of people.
If you’re just starting out with this stuff, this is probably perfect. Or if you’re pretty established with such things and just need to expand your current setup, you’ll surely agree that a dozen for $29.99 is awfully hard to beat.
Either way, let’s get you some (kinda) smart bulbs.
