@OnionSoup@tet3 for some context, the last one was July 21st. I got charged. I got a refund on July 30th.
The refund shows in my meh order page. No issues.
So if you’re super antentive to your bills it may bridge statements.
I would say if you didn’t get it in two? weeks maybe contact support. Manual entry of several hundred can cause mistakes but do far no issues
Manual may be keying but… I would hope a manually run database query, extract, review, refund… If it has to be manual. I should be scriptedbut not live
I would formally like to request a GOOD irk. It’s been a long time since I had any Irk, and my last few were pretty regrettable.
Where do we apply to get the good ones?.. you know, the ones with luggage sets full of Cuisanarts… Where trackrs never darken the box and poo pouri is never found!
@imzadi22 use meh’s search function and look for irk reveal threads. What you can get is all over the map from broken unidentifiable crap or stuff that is obsolete (trackers that they still have some left, I have a bunch of boxes of them, that have no working apps out there) to suitcase sets that aren’t trashed, fancy kitchen stuff, and everything in between. It’s a crap shoot. What you always get is an irk bag (if it if isn’t in there somewhere tell customer support and they will fix it). If you buy one when it comes you need to open everything as they often stuff things inside of other things. I have gotten very lucky a couple of times over the years and had the “well I put a match to that money” experience more than a few times. Typically it is in between and even if you don’t want anything in there you might know someone who does.
@imzadi22 My understanding is that what’s in an IRK can be stuff that someone else bought and returned (for any reason), sales samples of items they were evaluating, random crap found in the warehouse or office, stuff that was already damaged when Meh received it (possibly just damaged-box), stuff that Meh has on hand but has given up trying to sell (iPhone 6 cases, old MacBook cases, TrackRs, HO HO HO ornaments, insect repellent bracelets, novelty pens, etc.), clothing which tends to be the leftover dregs of women’s stuff in size S or XS (which is never what runs out first), leftover “last ones” of anything that any Mercatalyst site (except Casemates) has sold in the past, and pretty much anything about which someone might be moved to ask “What the hell am I supposed to do with this?”. Oh, and one of those large but inexpensive nonwoven-plastic-fiber shopping bags with the Meh IRK artwork on it. Often, the bag is the only thing of value to the recipient, even when it’s nominally all “good” stuff.
@imzadi22 my irks have ranged from nothing but a broken bottle of poo pouri and a destroyed bag shipped in an untaped box on the worst end of the spectrum to - a fancy hair dryer ($100 on Amazon when new) , a food vacuum sealer (pretty cool), and a few other odds and ends as my best box on the best end of the spectrum. (I still use the vacuum sealer today, and my youngest daughter still uses the hair drier… I’m sure both were probably refurbs)
Expect anything between those two extremes. Some people get better than that, but I’ve had maybe a dozen Irks over the years since Meh has been in business and that’s my best/worst.
Once I received an empty box inside my box that had the name and address of someone who had returned an item on it. (I did have other stuff in my main box too). That felt a little sketchy to me. Hope my name and address and what I bought never gets sent to someone when I return something to an online store.
My understanding is that all 'thon item purchases during this 'thon will count towards meeting the total required for the refund on the purchase of one IRK.
I will point out that from what has been stated many times in the forum, you can’t get a refund on a second IRK no matter how much you buy. This has occasionally annoyed some participants in the Ink For IRKs deal, who get an IRK semi-automagically just for meeting a different qualification.
@werehatrack Thanks for the response! About to hit you with a ridiculous sounding sentence but I just wanna double check - so if I’ve purchased over $30 in items that are currently on the thon, but they were bought before the thon technically started (I think - I bought something last week and the week before), think I’m okay for a refund?
@ballmanlover Sigh. No. Only purchases made during the 'thon, from the meh.com page, of items that are part of the 'thon, will count toward the IRK refund. I was going to mention that, and then didn’t, because I thought the rules stated over on SideDeal were explicit enough … but I guess the problem over there is that you can go from the splash screen directly to the purchase form without passing through The Rulez.
@OnionSoup Probably. But I look at it this way; I’ll buy stuff from the 'thon if I’d have bought it at that price without a 'thon. If and only if I happen to pile up enough of a total to get the IRK, I would order the IRK as well. If they sell out before that, I’m no more disappointed than I’d have been under the old “fastest click” paradigm, and far less disappointed than I would be if I’d had to buy a filler item to get to the IRK refund threshold because I bought the IRK speculatively.
@rhliu89 The order is not important. All that matters is that you have to buy $30 or more of the stuff that comes up during the Mehrathon, using the Mehrathon buy-it buttons or the /buy command here in the associated thread on the Forum, while the 'Thon is in progress, and buy the IRK from SideDeal while that Mehrathon is still in progress. No “still available for purchase from a previous date”, no “same item that’s in the 'thon, but I bought it last week”, no “same item as what’s in the 'thon, but I grabbed it from Morningsave/SideDeal”.
And none of this kind of thing either…
(It’s not you, I’m just trying to drop a gentle 78-ton Hint on the other rules lawyers out there, who would otherwise delight in parodying that Python scene.)
If you cut the avocado into thirds or quarters instead of halves, the seed just falls out.
Lots of people go to emergency rooms every year cutting themselves trying to remove the seeds. One extra cut in the fruit though and it just falls out.
I hope the ICYM stuff fits for the rebate? Anyone confirm? I bought it and the sonicare toothbrush and I think ICYM counts as “stuff from the mehrethon”?
@mehrrychristmas this is my first in a year. It’s probably been a couple of years since my last half-decent Irk. My last three or four have been terrible and not worth the $5. Still counting on it being just bad luck, and not that meh hates me.
Bought this… then a $10 item from the thon, then went to ask the family about another item… then forgot entirely about the thon and never bought anything else. Aghghghgh! What a maroon! Hope my irk is somehow worth the 38 bucks. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Just got my IRK, it had a bunch of TrackR Pixel bluetooth tracker things. TrackR has closed as a buisness but swiftfinder the app will actually connect them on android. Note only the ring from phone to tracker seems to work with this not the other way around.

Let’s see what I got…
About twenty TrackR.pixels

I got a bunch of green paint, likely expired, and Trackr Pixels that have been discontinued for 3 years are completely non-functional. Whether you want the shit or not, it should still work and not just make me responsible for actual trash and e-waste.

I would like to point out that in the list of examples of what happens when you do or don’t make a purchase, they say this:
So how do I know I got $30 off the IRK? I got the Phillips razor (sucker!) but got charged $38 for the IRK (double-sucker!!).
@dmercure we will refund you next week!
I fucks with it at this price, if for no other reason than because of the incentive to purchase something else today to offset the cost.
If someone is getting an IRK through Ink
And then that person purchases 30 bucks worth on today’s mega-sale:
Can that person still get a discount on the Sidedeal IRK?
I certainly don’t intend to do this unless I find $30 of stuff I just happen to want anyway but I’m curious about the rules
@f00l Bit delayed, but my understanding is that you get can one IRK per 'thon. If one of the long-time Ink folks knows otherwise, they can chime in.
Well this took some justification!

I’ve passed on the previous few IRKs and since this one is only costing me $38 and that’s how much I’d spend for a random mystery box.

So, I guess…
/giphy corny-feathered-hunter

meh.
Hmmmm… not seeing the $30 refund despite spending over $30… not sure what I’m doing wrong.
@OnionSoup In the past they give the refund by hand and it takes a week or so.
@OnionSoup yea it takes a bit and after the sale ends. I always get charged, then I get a credit card refund. So. Plan for that
@OnionSoup It’s in the “things to keep in mind” paragraph: “the refunds may take a week or more to come in”.
@OnionSoup @tet3 for some context, the last one was July 21st. I got charged. I got a refund on July 30th.

Nope, guess that one doesn’t work anymore either.
For those of you who have Irked before, what can I expect in this Irk?
@imzadi22 use meh’s search function and look for irk reveal threads. @TimboGoods @werehatrack
No second Irks either, no matter if you buy enough that same day. One per person.
In for a penny, in for a pound! Why the bloody hell not?

/giphy assured-steadfast-pain
Does multiple items count toward the $30 money back? Ie if I buy a $20 item and then a $15 item or does it have to be a single item over $30
@hittinofr multiple count. Just has to be $30 total.
@sillyheathen thanks!!
700+ sold. How many do we think they have? 1000?
@OnionSoup Probably. But I look at it this way; I’ll buy stuff from the 'thon if I’d have bought it at that price without a 'thon. @OnionSoup they’ll make more
i guess the pain from the last one i bought has subsided sufficiently

Yesterday’s slot car purchase is still available. Will that count toward the $30?
@Trinityscrew It can only be things that were for sale during the actual meh-rathon.
@Kidsandliz @Trinityscrew …during and as part of the actual Mehrathon.
Definitely regrettable last time but I still bought one.
Looking at the instructions, it seems I did things out of order? I bought $30+ worth of shirts and then bought the IRK…will I get the refund?

Ok. I’m confused. I just purchased something in thon for $38. If I purchased the IKR, can I still get the refund?
@tonye33 yes, that’s the way I understand it. I think I’ve done it in the past. Just be patient for the refund.
@Stumpy91 check, as in… gotcha.
/giphy toothy-fast-cottage

What’s all this about, then?
Do I get some sort of email to let me know I get $30 back?
@ColeSloth nope. Just have to give them a few days. You can always contact customer support. They are usually pretty responsive.
I hope the ICYM stuff fits for the rebate? Anyone confirm? I bought it and the sonicare toothbrush and I think ICYM counts as “stuff from the mehrethon”?
