@narfcake Yeah, the specs seem completely made up. 24W can not be 1500W. This thing is very low power.
Having said that, I would still consider it if it somehow fit my m12 batteries.
@blaineg Yep, though I’m sure that it was made in reference to the windings. There are motors that use aluminum wire – cheaper to make and less efficient, but when manufacturers are trying to cut every penny in cost …
@blaineg@narfcake Traditional electric motors use electromagnets for both the armature and the fields. Brushless motors use an armature made of permanent magnets, and drive it by using fast switching from a solid state control circuit that directs the power to the fields. Many modern DC electric motors use rare earth magnets instead of electromagnets for the fields, and still have brushes. The starters on most automobiles made from the late '90s onward have that type of motor.
WTaF!
It’s cordless, but with a 10 foot cord.
It’s 2 amp, no wait… 12.5 amp
Runs at 4700 RPM.
Amazon listing for the DES01A comes with (2) 3 and 3/8 inch blades and a 2Ah battery and spins at 1420 RPM.
Looks like someone put the specs for the cordless and corded versions into a bag … then randomly picked out lines from each to create a “Franken-saw”.
If I order it and it comes in and is NOT 7.25 inch compatible, can I return it? (Even if it is pretty much crap, it would be handy for making cuts in 2x4s or 4x4 posts away from the shop for some applications.)
Over a 100 sold (and now as of half an hour ago, sold out)
Hope they actually have something vaguely resembling the item they (half-assedly) described.
/eightball will customer service get overworked by this sale? Yes definitely
As pointed out, if it really was 12 volts and 2 amps, it was hardly be able to cut butter. So I suspect that the two amp thing should be “two amp hour battery”. And the blade size given is clearly absurd. As someone mentioned, the Amazon listing says it’s 3 and a fraction inches, which is the typical size for a mini or trim circular saw. I have to wonder if they “ran out” after figuring out that they had completely blown the description.

This sounds like a thing I should have but I don’t know what for…

@llangley
Actually it sounds pretty suspect. See comments below about spec conflicts. I’m not sure WTF you will truly get…
@chienfou thank you…I decided to pass. But now that it’s sold out…
That’s… really underpowered.
@haydesigner I’m sure it cuts paper and cardboard just fine.
@blaineg @haydesigner
and probably fingers… don’t forget fingers!
Something not adding up:
1500 watts/12.5 amps = 120 volts.
But this is a 12V, 2A cordless saw.

@narfcake And if the motor were pure copper, it wouldn’t work. Gotta be some magnets in there somewhere.

So wait - you are offering this so that when the lock meh is selling had batteries that fail so you can cut the lock out of the door and get in?
@Kidsandliz Selling to both sides of the conflict.

That’s what I figured…

@werehatrack
That was my first thought too when I saw they had run out…
I ordered one, based on the AMZN description. Meh writers have been drinking the good stuff again, I see.
@OldCatLady Or way too much of the really cheap stuff.
