There’s a certain guilt that comes with leaving for a weekend — or even just a long day at the office — when your pet’s food bowl is sitting empty on the kitchen floor. You do the math in your head. You text a neighbor. You turn around once.

The PitPet Smart Feeder takes that whole spiral off the table. Program up to six meals a day on the LCD screen, dial in portions (up to nine per meal), and let it run. The 6L hopper holds enough kibble for 35 days of cat meals or 20 days for a small dog, so this isn’t a “remember to refill it daily” situation.

There’s also a 10-second voice recording feature — you can call your pet to their bowl in your own voice, which is either sweet or slightly unnerving depending on how you think about it. Either way, it works.

The dual power supply keeps things running through outages, the locking lid stops clever pets from helping themselves early, and the bowl pops out and goes straight into the dishwasher. Setup takes a few minutes. After that, you’re mostly just watching a very punctual machine do its job.
